A tradition of service

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Community Advisory Council put together a drive-thru food distribution event last month at the United Wilmington Youth Foundation. Six hundred food boxes were provided by the Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank, and Only Hope Prison Ministries participated as well, handing out 600 Gospel of John Bibles and 600 Biblical Tracks on “How to Know God.”

The champion of the event, Mike, passed out 90 percent of all of the bibles and biblical materials to the families who were picking up their food boxes. “Deputy” Mike is just 11 years old, and was actually deputized for the day by an LASD Lieutenant at the event! The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s continue to find creative and practical ways to demonstrate their tradition of service.
