The Valley Food Bank was established in 2001 as an outreach of the Rescue Mission Alliance to serve the food insecure in the San Fernando Valley. Our warehouse facility in Pacoima is a central hub that collects, processes, and distributes surplus food at no-charge to a network of food pantries, rescue missions, and other non-profit organizations to provide hot nutritious meals and food baskets to the hungry and homeless in Southern California.
The Valley Food Bank distributes over 1.6 million canned and dry goods and over 2 million pounds of fresh food per year to more than 180,000 people in need.
Grocery Stores & Restaurants
- 74% of our food donations come from local businesses in our community.
- Many of these donations include fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy products.
- Overstocked or discontinued food items that would otherwise go to waste are put to good use at the food bank.
- Most of the canned goods and other non-perishable food items we receive come from food drives. Caring members of the community organize food drives at their workplaces, schools, clubs, churches and synagogues.
The Valley Food Bank is an outreach ministry of the Rescue Mission Alliance and is firmly committed to the highest standards of financial and institutional integrity.
