Leona came to our Food Ministry after finding us in the Pennysaver. She is a mother of three children, and a grandmother of six. Leona had depended on her father to help with the rent and food after her husband deserted her and the children. She had no job. When her father died, she lost all of his financial help and support.

Around the same time, Leona found out she had cancer and had to go through a rigorous chemotherapy regime. Leona told us all the food resources for her children and grandchildren have been a miracle to them. In part due to the Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank, she and her family have been thriving, and through this, has rededicated her life to Christ. Leona attends almost every church service—and she is now in remission!
