This week we had the privilege of speaking with one of the newer recipients at the La Voz-Sylmar pantry. Her name is Maritza. When asked how she found out about this community resource, she said, “I am fortunate enough to have a friend who told me about this place. After I came the first time, I couldn’t keep this to myself. So, I began to tell people I know that needed help about what the pantry provides, and to come by.”

Maritza was also asked what she thinks of the quality of foods being provided. She told us, “I am more than satisfied with the selection of the food here. I am glad that we are provided with all sorts of food. From fruits and vegetables to dry goods and canned goods, this food definitely helps my family lighten the financial load that COVID-19 has brought upon our household.”

On top of the food being provided to those who come, the La Voz pantry takes pride in our customer service skills as well. All the staff make sure to make every visitor feel welcomed. Maritza is one of many visitors who are greeted with a smile. We also have bilingual volunteers on our team to minimize any communication barriers with members of the community.
