Imagine waking up on Christmas morning knowing you cannot provide a Christmas meal for your family. While most are unwrapping presents and enjoying a special day together, some are facing a Christmas with nothing at all.

The holidays are a time of joy for most families, but when you have no food, you are more likely to feel the opposite: without hope, love, or care.

Jenny is a mom who works part time. Once her son is a little older, she will pursue a full-time job, but for now she needs to be around to care for him, so they survive on a part-time salary and her local pantry.

Jenny and her son found Christmas a real struggle. While everyone around them enjoyed a delicious meal with their families, they struggled to find the basics.

But last year the Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank provided food to Jenny and her son.

“The Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank allowed me to have a Christmas meal with my family, with all the great foods that everyone else has,” Jenny said. “Thank you for bringing back the festive spirit and a reminder of the reason for the season through that meal!”
