‘It’s hard to survive day by day’

Rosa is “very grateful” for the relief the food boxes give her family.

This was Rosa’s first time at the food bank at La Voz Sylmar Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was coming back from the store, where she could only afford a handful of items, when she saw volunteers unloading boxes of food from the truck. Curious and hopeful, she decided to ask if she could have a box of food. She and her husband are currently out of work, though they have been actively looking. Receiving nutritious food was a blessing to Rosa and her husband.

“I was so grateful when they gave me a box of food. We are going through a tough time right now financially. Only God knows how hard it is for us to survive day by day,” she said.

“I am very grateful for the help these programs offer. I pray for God to continue to provide funds and food for these programs, as they are so helpful for people who are going through very difficult times in their lives. May God bless you abundantly. Thank you very much.”

Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank provides food for the La Voz Sylmar SDA pantry, which is open Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. It’s located at 13550 Herron St.
