With the Russian invasion in Ukraine still wreaking havoc, families have been fleeing rather than risk losing their lives. Evgenii and Roman, two Russian brothers, found asylum in Reseda. They happened to be walking near a church when they saw a man in a red volunteer T-shirt. They followed him to Reseda UMC Kingdom Food Pantry.

There is no doubt God intervened for these two brothers who have become weekly volunteers and have recently joined Reseda UMC Kingdom Church. The Food Pantry has evolved from providing food, to a complete ministry that offers hot lunches, clothing, showers, haircuts, children’s activities, fellowship and prayer.

Jesus said, “I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you welcomed me … and you clothed me.” Matthew 25:35

Partnering with the Valley Food Bank has given us the ability to feed over 230 families per week and the need continues to grow. This has allowed the church to focus more on the ministry and expand the “Kingdom Common Grounds where dreams are brewed, hope rises.”
