Making a Difference

vcrm staff

Many organizations and vendors have adopted “Fresh Rescue” practices to ensure perishable food items that would otherwise go into the waste are donated to the Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank. One hallmark example is the participation from Albertsons in Tujunga. David Panza, a
43-year veteran Receiving Manager, facilitates the needs of the store and their clientele and directs “Fresh Rescued” items to several non-profits that serve struggling families.

David is a true professional; efficient and often displaying his great sense of humor. Most notable is his passion to help make a difference in the community. When the rear of the store is open, you can hear David announce to all departments to bring their Fresh Rescue items for donation. Always cheerful and of good spirits, but make no mistake, David has a watchful eye on every product coming and going.
In the last twelve months the Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank was the recipient of 137,547 lbs. of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, baked goods, and deli items. Many, many families are blessed by Albertsons’ generosity.
