Rock of the Valley commits to giving food—along with kindness

With the cost of living continuing to increase beyond what the employment wages of many people can handle, little is left to buy food after the bills get paid.

“We believe everyone should have access to food. Our goal is to meet people’s basic needs with love and kindness. With the help of Valley Food Bank, and God’s favor, Rock of the Valley’s missions department is able to serve an average of 60 families each week—some with up to 12 individual members.

Upon receiving food from Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank, we set aside sandwiches and other foods for those who are homeless or do not have proper cooking appliances. We deliver food to several people who are disabled and cannot come and receive food items. When available, the Valley Food Bank also helps with some basic toiletry items for adults, children and babies.

“I feel so much love when I come here,” said Larry. “You all give me food with a love that I never received from my mother.” Giving Larry food items with no strings attached seems to be therapeutic to him as well as meeting his basic need. We love to see the smile on his face each week as he receives his food, in addition to love and kindness.

Because of the Living God we serve and our partnership with Valley Food Bank, we have been able to meet the needs of the community as our outreach continues to grow. We appreciate the Valley Food Bank, and we are grateful and thankful for everyone who makes serving the community possible.
